Ballard Canyon
This bottling is earthy and expressive, with aromas of fall leaves, leather, cinnamon, and a touch of Sunday gravy. On the palate, it's light-bodied and vibrant, with bright acidity, refined tannins, and notes of sour cherry and savory herbs that carry through a lingering finish. Still very young, we recommend decanting or cellaring before enjoying. Drink now through 2040.
Sourced from two blocks of old world clones within the organically farmed Sycamore Ranch Vineyard, the grapes were harvested and fermented separately-with some stem inclusion-in large open-top vats. Aged for 16 months in 30% new oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve its natural character and texture, this wine reflects an old-world Sangiovese in both structure and spirit.
Cristaldi Score 91 These Italian clones of Sangiovese come from an organically farmed vineyard in Ballard Canyon. The wine was fermented in open-top tanks for 21 days and aged 18 months in barrel before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The fruit is remarkably intense, framed by generous toasty oak and powerful incense notes. Beneath that structure lies a soft-fruited core with ample richness and a vanilla-spiced finish.
